Gate1Travel is a very big travel agency, you should find practically anything you may want in their offer. Random customer reviews : Travelled to the former Yugoslavia for an abortion of a trip. People traveling were a mixture of stupid, rude or crude. Personal effects of minimal value vanished during brief trips on the bus. The local restaurants were a mixture of poor food or improper hygiene. There was a minimum of friction admittedly because certain alpha males or females…scroungy looking people…..kept cutting the lines. And everyone was too embarrassed to say anything.Do the right thing and check out non cutthroat tours…pay for the service and avoid people who belong more in a police lockup than a tour bus. also, the political situation there was horrendous: we had to go through more stupid checkpoints…some twice….than it was worth.I want you to know that I never give negative workups so this is fervent. Some negative reviews : Just returned from South Africa June 3rd. Our tour guide told us on the first day if we were late he would leave us. Every time we got off the bus he said no shopping and only gave us time to go to the bathroom. Every time we arrived to sit in the hotel for 3 hours until dinner. He kept telling us on the last day he would take us to a warehouse full of souvenirs. I asked the first day about wanting to purchase gold bangle bracelets. He assured me this place had plenty of jewelry. When the last came and we arrived at the so called warehouse it was 3 rooms. One jewelry store that did not carry bangle bracelets. When he asked the jeweler he said we ordered those for your last client and sent them back.
Some positive reviews : Just returned from Gate1 11 day Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento Italy Tour which departed May 12. This was my 4th tour but first with Gate1. I could not have been more pleased. The tour manager, Francesco Fedeli was outstanding in all respects. So many things can go wrong with a tour group of 34 persons and Mr. Fedeli was on top of every detail and insured that we all had a great time. I can’t imagine there being a better tour manager for Italy in the business. The local guides were very knowledgeable and made our visits to sites in Venice, Florence, Rome and Capri much more enjoyable.
